Al-A`azi

It is the art of pride and eulogy which is performed in the Dakhiliyah, Dhahirah and Sharqiyah regions. It constitutes of poetry recital without singing or chanting. It is performed by the A`azi poet who holds a sword and shield and moves while reciting the poem. From time to time he stops and shakes his sword, while the rest of men following him in columns cheer.
 
The A`azi could be preceded or followed by the Ta`uttah, Or Ta`yittah in some regions. The Ta`uttah is a demonstration of pride which is uttered by participants in the A`azi . The Mu`aitt cheers the name of the person he praises.
