Future Plans

The folklore arts department plans to start the filed collection project which includes the non corporeal cultural heritage in the Sultanate. This phase also includes compiling oral heritage from Omani personalities, in accordance with specific regulations.

This project will cover:

• Customs and traditions.

• Old dialects.

• Narrated history.

• Popular anecdote.

• Traditional music and songs, dances, artistic shows, traditional poetry, proverbs, games and medicine.

• Old vocations such as agriculture, fishing, pasturage and traditional trade and crafts.

In an endeavor to develop Omani folklore arts, the department works towards mingling them in Modern musical formations and it supervises the various musical troupes in the country.
