Prominent local exhibitions:
Arab Document Exhibition: (Held annually as part of the
celebration observing the Arab document day on 17 Oct.)
Documents are an important source of information and a
historical cue of nations, thus all nations endeavor to
obtain and safeguard various types of documents.
Though the world currently witnesses a comprehensive
information revolution, the document is still considered a
genuine source of information which is based on study and
scientific research in various fields.
Prominent international organization which have emerged
after the 2nd World war, such as the UN, the international
justice court and other regional organizations have
considerably helped preserve and safeguard documents and
collect facts and historical proofs which support legitimate
and legal rights of various parties in some conflicts such
as border issues and others.
Documents are important, Because:

The represent a historical source on which researchers
relies.

They unveil administrative, economic, political and social
developments of countries and institutions.

They play an important role in taking appropriate decisions
when planning for institutions.

They confirm the personal identity of the individual and
conserve his (her) rights and protect property rights and
patents.
Due to this important role of documents, Oct.17 was selected
to celebrate and highlight documents. The ministry of
heritage and culture observes this day by holding seminars
and exhibitions which shed light on the importance of
documents and the need to preserve them.
A brief of the ministry’s celebrations to mark this day in
2004

A lecture on the importance of Omani historical documents
was delivered by Dr. Said bin Mohammed al-Hashmi, from
Sultan Qaboos University.

A lecture on the importance of documents and documentation
– Experience of Omani Studies Center at the SQU was
delivered by Dr. Khalid Abdul Mohsin al-Tamimi.
-
A lecture on Omani documents from the perspective of Omani
press in east Africa was delivered by Dr. Mohsin bin Hamoud
al-Kindi.

Personal
Arts exhibitions:
The Ministry has organized an exhibition of Iraqi artist
Shan Kole Haseeb Qadir in the Cultural club from Jan 2nd to
6th 2004. The fair titled "Gulf folklore heritage in Iraqi
eyes" was held under the auspices of Sayyid Mansoor bin
Majed al-Said, Adviser to the Minister of heritage and
culture. Artist Shan exhibited several works depicting
heritage and civilization, environment and wildlife.
Sheikh Dr. Abdul Malik al-Hinai, economic affairs
undersecretary at the Ministry of National Economy opened at
al-Soroor hall at al-Harthy complex on 12th April 2004 a
fine arts exhibition held jointly by Omani artist Tahira
bint Fadal Hussein and Saudi artist Abdul Adheem al-Dhamin.
The fair which concluded on April 18th included more than 60
paintings.
Joint arts exhibitions at the AGCC level:

The ministry holds arts and Arab calligraphy exhibitions
inside the Sultanate and participates in similar events held
in the AGCC states.

The 6th AGCC exhibition of fine arts and Arab calligraphy
was held in Muscat from June 16th to 25th 20015.
-
The 3rd AGCC Arab calligraphy exhibition was held in Muscat
from Sept. 21st to 26th 1996.
