The ministry had an important role in safeguarding ancient historical buildings as it renovated more than 100 castles and forts, as well as hundredth of towers in the Sultanate’s various regions. Since 1995 the ministry has accorded special attention to safeguarding ancient archeological mosques and embarked on renovating around 35 of them.
