Renovation of towers

Sample:
Renovation of Hail al-Ghaf tower, wilayat of Quriyat, Muscat Governorate.

Haid al-Ghaf tower is one of the hundredth of archeological towers renovated by the ministry. Such towers most of which were on top of hills were used for defensive purposes against enemies.

Tower while renovation

The tower location:

It is situated in the old souq (market) in Hail al-Ghaf in the wilayat of Quraiyat. It is surrounded by citizens' houses.

Construction specifications:

According to illustrating pictures the tower was built of graves and the Omani Sarooj material. It is composed of a basement and a first floor used for monitoring purposes.


Engineering measurements:

Its diameter is 9.70 meter with a height of 14.70 meter.

Its status before renovation:

It suffered from falling of plaster and to climatic factors, its ceiling upper part had completely fallen down.


Renovation works:

The tower base was enhanced, a barrier was made, the plaster was renovated, its upper soroojs were built and a drainage system was put in place.

The total amount of the renovation works was around R.O. 10 thousand. It was renovated in 90 days.
