Renovation of castles and forts

Location:

It is situated in the city centre on the sea coast. It is surrounded from the north and the south by several houses built of modern material, from the east is surrounded by Oman Sea and from the west by the main road leading to Sohar.

Its contents:

It is composed of the main entrance, the Sabah, the guard rooms, stores, chambers, and a surveillance tower.

Its general status:

The fort is deserted and open from all sides as its walls and ceilings are semi destroyed. Its windows and doors were changed.

The fort’s main entrance:

It is similar to those of other forts in the Batinah region.



Engineering measurements:

The fort length is around 53 meters and its width is 30 meters. The tower diameter is 9 meters, the Sabah length is 12.27 meter and it width is 2.5 meters.

Renovation works included:

  • Cleaning the site.

  • Removing all modern cement buildings

  • nspecting the fort main old basis.

  • Removing the cement plaster from all walls.

  • Embarking on building the wall using graves, sarooj and mud.

  • Rebuilding the fort ceiling.

  • Supplying electricity.

  • Building a towler and making doors windows.
