The theatre, cinema and plastic arts department directly monitors all related activities. Its main objectives are to develop these fields and to sponsor talented individuals. To achieve these objectives the department performs the following tasks:

• Sponsoring participations in regional and international plastic arts exhibitions

• Issuing licenses to form domestic troupes

• Encouraging the talented individuals and groups to practice these arts

• To conduct studies aimed at developing and spreading these arts

• To invite reputed artists in all fields to visit the sultanate to exchange experiences and knowledge

• To initiate holding of artistic exhibitions in the sultanate

• To develop strong relations with artistic organizations
