Youth troupes in governorates and regions

Schools
represented an entrance gate for theatrical activities in
the sultanate in the form of highly simple scenes produces.
The concerned authorities acquired technical assistance in
the mid eighties. The year 1990 marks the true beginning of
the theatrical activities in Oman. The Public Authority for
Youth Sports and Cultural Activities, the concerned
authority at the time, adopted important measures to this
effect:

Appointment of caliber qualified Omanis to supervise
youth troupes

Upgrading
the existing theatres
-
Allocating
financial budgets to theatres all over the country.

Youth Troupe
This troupe was formed in 1990 during the celebration of the
Sultanate’s 20th National Day. Its activities commenced with
its participation in the Youth Artistic Festival. Over the
following years the troupe succeeded in securing large
numbers of audience who attended its various performances.

Al-Dhahirah Youth Troupe
This troupe was formed in 1990. The Youth Artistic Festival
held during the celebrations of the Sultanate’s 20th
National Day witnessed its first sign production which was a
play titles “The Seale”. The troupe remains active.
