Powers of the Theatrical Division
 
The Ministry pays a great deal of attention to theatrical activities based on the greater role that theatre can play in spreading awareness in the society besides the ability of theatres to assist in the overall development process.
This division was founded based on the following:

• To regulate the formation of troupes

• To supervise and provide financial and technical aid to domestic troupes

• To review scripts from a technical point of view and to authorize and supervise production of plays

• To organize local contests and theatre festivals

• To organize the participation of troupes in regional and international theatrical festivals

The division follows pre made programs for each year. These programs include:

• Programs that fall within the annual departmental plan

• Periodical programs set to be executed to serve specific goals and strategies within a specific time frame

• Programs to participate in regional and international festivals according to their time schedule

• To supervise and provide financial and technical aid to domestic troupes

The Division’s objectives

The division aims to achieve the following objectives:

• To spread theatrical awareness and culture in the society

• To utilize the great potentials of this art in serving the development goals of the country.

• Exposing the unique feature of the Omani heritage through theatrical activities.

• To avail and provide the proper atmosphere for talents to flourish through organizing seminars, workshops, training halls and continuous participation in festivals and other related events.
